What are /or is Retail Scars?

No matter what happens in the next 100 years, theres is one thing everyone will have to do to make it in the world- Buy shit. Online shopping is convienient but it'll never be as quick, and not every delivery is guaranteed to arrive when they say it will. No matter what shit you buy- food, drugs, clothes, books, games- nothing will replace actual shopping and retailing of those said items.

That last paragraph might bring out a "Boring" or "no shit" in your mind, so if thats the case please read on. I'm Bob Cooper a 26 year old retail stock clerk for a major store chain that I will NOT mention ever in my writting of this blog. I work in a job that is one of the most taken for granted jobs out there. I'm not a man angry with his job or the system or the economy and politics of retail I just am someone that writes and thinks. I can be vulgar, but since I can't really swear much at work, this is all I got- so grin and bare it. Have a sense of humor before you read any futher.

Remember folks whenever you take something off a shelf- its because someone like me put it there. Theres no automated system that puts cans of food on shelves, no robot to stack those pyramids of paper towels at the store, and no star trek style tranporters that bring all those items into a store. Even with all the laser scanning guns (we call them telxons) and bigger delivery trucks nothing has outdone what a pricing gun and a box cutter can do.

That being said I must also add some things- I love what I do. I work for a great company and make an honest living. I don't mention whom I work for and for the time being, I never will. This blog is a something I'm doing as way to enlighten those who read it that working in retail is a job that never gets its due credit.

If you work retail then you'll know that its one of America's thankless jobs. The pay sucks, the hours are long, the customers can be hateful and unbelievebly unresonable. The work can also be dangerous, retail workers get as much bloodied knuckles and cuts from box knives as most construction workers. Some of us get humiliated because we might not have what your looking for and some of us also get guns pulled on us and shot. In short, work enough years either on the sales floor or behind a register and you'll develop scars, weather physical or mental.

Thats why this stupid ass blog exists. I hope that in the time I write this blog that I will get some regular readers and maybe even make you laugh, but ultimently I want the retail world and anyone thats connected to it and its economic footprint to THINK.

Guys like me are what keep America shopping and buying.

Thanks for visiting

Bob C
